Living ready

“Be ready for whatever comes, dressed for action and with your lamps lit.” – Luke 12:35 When preparing for camping, there are essential things that one must carry along which will help you during your entire period of camping. In your luggage you will probably have heavy clothing for cold weather, raincoat for rainy weather, torch and lamps when the sun falls, first aid kit when you get hurt, maps and compasses for direction, and hunting knife for cutting and hunting. Without some of these things, your entire camping periods would be difficult and challenging. In our spiritual walk, we also need to be fully prepared with proper gear that would help us in our time of need. In Luke 12:35, Jesus is encouraging us to “ be ready for whatever comes” to us in life. Whatever things may be, good or bad; we need to be ready and prepared to withstand, endure and conquer whatever that comes against us. At some point in life, we shall be faced with various trials of life, things that are me...

Follow Me

“Follow Me” – Luke 9:59 Jesus is calling each one of us to follow Him. Not just walking into His footsteps but to be more like Him. It is not a matter of being called His disciples, but it’s about following His teachings, relying on Him, having faith in Him and living a life that is good and well pleasing to God. We are all privileged to receive His calling, His invitation to partake into the Kingdom of God. “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head” Birds live in their nests, a place where it is comfortable, warm and safe from other external dangers. Jesus is calling us out of our comfort zones and sending us out “as lambs among wolves.” Luke 10:3 . His desires are for you and me to have eternal life, and to live a life that reflects the true nature of God. This means letting go the wrong beliefs that we have, laying aside our evil ways in order to adapt His character. When you decide to follow Jesus, not everyone ...

Cease from Anger

“Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; do not fret- it only causes harm” Psalm 37:8 Have you ever caught yourself wondering about the uncertainties of life? You begin to think about what may or may not happen with the questions of ‘ What If’ . Something like, “What if I don’t make it? What if I don’t get the job? What if my relationship fails? What if my health doesn’t improve? Or What if I don’t get married or get a child” It is such questions of ‘ What Ifs’ that opens the door for anxiety, wrath and anger. Thinking too much about the ‘ What Ifs’ in your mind slowly builds up negative emotions in your heart. You slowly begin to feel sad, angry, anxious, and afraid and it makes you even doubt yourself. Since we do this without even realizing it, our moods change. We then become sour, annoyed, disappointed and worried about the things that are untrue. We just formed the negative scenarios in our minds and played it over and over in our minds until it begin to affect us and those ...

Blessed in the Desert

“He saw a great crowd waiting, and He was moved with compassion for them.” Mark 6:34 Are you at a place in life where you feel like you are lost or forsaken? No sense of direction or purpose? Are you at a place where you feel like there isn’t any hope, or future? Then be encouraged, you are not forsaken because God understands your struggles, He has great compassion for you and His arms are open wide to welcome you. In life the problems that we experience have a way of pushing us down, stealing our joy and draining our strength. Sometimes, you may feel like you got no more reasons to live, because of the challenges that are coming against you. This is because you are at a desolate place; the place where nothing good seems to be happening, your health conditions is not improving, business is going down, children going off-course or having problems with your finances. The Lord God is our Shepherd in Him we find peace, joy and comfort. He strengthens us when we are faced with vari...

New Beginnings

“Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” Luke 5:4 Today is a new beginning for you and me. A season to start afresh, an opportunity to rekindle the hope that we had lost, an opportunity to believe again and a time to take that first step of faith. Yesterday is gone, and there’s nothing we can do about it. The good news is we’ve got today, a new day to rejoice and be glad knowing that God is on the throne and in control of your life. Often, we live in the past. We focus on the things we’ve lost, the struggles that hurt us, the opportunities we missed, and loses we incurred. Since you focus too much on the opportunities that you missed, you end up giving up on life. The previous season may have been hard, but that doesn’t mean you’ve reached the end of the road. There is more that God has for you which you haven’t seen or experienced yet. Today, Jesus is encouraging each one of us to “Launch out into the deep.” Maybe you gave up because you have been trying...
