Psalm 40:1–2 | HE LIFTS ME OUT
“Lord, where are You? Save me from this pit—answer me!”
At times,
we find ourselves asking such questions—especially in moments of loss, pain,
despair, or when life feels overwhelming and beyond our control.
Today’s
Scripture reminds us that we have a Father in heaven who not only hears our
cries but also responds with rescue.
“I waited patiently for the Lord; He turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.” – Psalm 40:1–2
Sometimes
God’s response is not immediate, but Scripture calls us into a posture of trust
and dependence. God is not distant—He is near. There are moments in life when
we feel stuck in “slimy pits” we cannot escape on our own, but we are never
abandoned in them.
The enemy
may whisper lies like: “This is the end. You will never recover. You will
always be forgotten, unworthy, unwanted, or stuck.” These thoughts produce
fear, discouragement, and hopelessness.
But
Scripture reveals a different truth: God leans in to the cries of His children.
He hears you. He sees your pain. And He lifts you out of places you could never
escape by your own strength.
When God
lifts you, He delivers you from what held you captive. When He sets your feet
on a rock, He gives you stability, direction, and security—even in the midst of
chaos.
You may
not have all the answers right now, but you can rest in this assurance: the
living God is with you, and He is at work.
Prayer:
“Lord, thank You for hearing my cry. Thank You for Your saving hand and for
setting my feet on unshakable ground.”
