PSALM 18 | THE LORD IS MY STRENGTH
There are seasons when trouble shakes our world from every side—loss of a loved one, financial strain, depression, relationship breakdowns. In such storms, even the strength to face another day can fade if we are not anchored to an unshakable Rock.
David knew
this reality. Pursued by Saul and threatened repeatedly, he discovered that his
strength was not in circumstance, but in the Lord—his stronghold. He boldly
declares:
“The
Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;
my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge,
my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” – Psalm 18:2
Notice the
repetition of “my.”
“My rock.”
“My fortress.”
“My deliverer.”
This was
not distant theology; it was personal relationship. David’s confidence flowed
from covenant intimacy. His relationship with God became his anchor in
adversity.
This verse
is not only comforting—it is invitational. It calls us back to a place of
stability, protection, strength, victory, and trust. The refuge exists, but
refuge requires response. We must choose to run into it.
Later, he
testifies:
“They
confronted me in the day of my disaster, but the Lord was my support.” –
Psalm 18:18
The enemy
may whisper about your limited strength, but God reminds you of His unlimited
support. His support does not merely sympathize—it sustains. It carries you
through what seeks to crush you.
Today,
even in the midst of the storm, you can stand and declare:
“The
Lord is my unshakable Rock—my support, my strength, and my deliverer. This too
shall be overcome.”
