In Full View of the Lord: The Call to Authentic Christian Living
“Your ways are in full view of the Lord, and He examines all your paths.” (Proverbs 5:21)
In
a person’s life, nothing can be hidden from God. He sees everything. He sees
your heart, motives, thoughts, behaviour, and every decision you make. So
often, we deceive ourselves into thinking that we can do something and still
keep it hidden.
And yet we forget the truth in Proverbs 5:21. “Your ways are in full view of the Lord, and He examines all your paths.” The verse calls us to live a life of integrity, being fully aware of God’s watchful eye and accountability to God.
What
you do in secret matters just as much as what you do in public. So often,
people seem to present a different version of themselves when in public. They
appear loving, sincere, respectable, successful, or holy. But in reality, they mask
greed, corruption, arrogance, pride, and envy.
This
is exactly what Jesus was talking about in the Gospel of Luke:
“There
is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be
made known. What you have said in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and
what you have whispered in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from
the roofs.” (Luke 12:2-3).
Jesus
reminds us that God sees the heart, and His judgment is not based on outward appearances,
but on truth. Whatever evil is hidden within us will surely be exposed. Not
only does this come as a warning, but as a reminder to believers to pursue a
life consistent with God’s will.
This
truth remains urgent in our digital age, where private messages, online
interactions and hidden behaviour seem to take root in our society. We do this
with an illusion of “private zone”, when in reality it isn’t. No place, moment or
darkness can obstruct God’s vision.
David
echoes this truth in Psalm 139:12.
“Even
the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for
darkness is as light to you.”
God
has perfect vision. There is no darkness too thick, no secret too deep, no path
too hidden, and no thought too concealed for Him to see. Therefore, as
followers of Christ, we must regularly examine our way of life and ask
ourselves:
- Does my private life match what I stand for in public?
- Are my actions truly pleasing to God?
- What areas of my life need alignment?
- What habits do I excuse privately but condemn publicly?
But
this truth is not only about exposing sin. God sees you when you honour Him
with your generosity, sacrifices, honest decisions, prayers, quiet obedience,
and even in your struggles. He sees it all and rewards faithfulness in public.
We
don’t need to pretend anymore. God knows us fully, and in that knowledge is freedom-
The freedom to live in sincerity, authenticity and integrity, that honours God.
