THE ALMIGHTY GOD WHO GOES AHEAD

“The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” – Deuteronomy 31:8

Are you afraid of the uncertainties in your life? Do you feel discouraged by what’s happening in your life or by the mountains that stand against you? Well, be not afraid nor discouraged by the obstacles that stand against you, for the LORD is with you. You are not alone. 

Deuteronomy 31:8 hold both a promise and an encouragement to God’s people whenever we find ourselves in unfamiliar territories or in circumstances that are overwhelming and discouraging. If there’s anything that is both terrifying and confusing, it's journeying alone. Especially when you don’t have a single clue of what lies ahead and how to manoeuvre through the unknown.

Going through the storms of life can sometimes feel like walking into the unknown, not sure what to do or the dangers that lie ahead. And when the journey gets tougher, we may feel alone and forsaken. And this is the point where the enemy whispers to you voices like, ‘You can’t do it’, ‘No one cares about you’, or ‘Just give it up, it’s not for you.’

Your life may look like you’ve reached the end and forsaken, or you may be starting a new season in life, but in your mind, deep within, you are wrestling with thoughts of doubt and fear; however, God assures us of His presence in the middle of our mess. Not only does He promise to go ahead of us, but He also promises to walk the journey with us, even in the storms of life. When the night gets too dark to see, and the pain too great to bear,  and the voices of doubt getting louder, remember what He promised in Deuteronomy 31:8, that He will be with you and never will He forsake you.

That promise is something that you and I can stand on when our world is shaken by the storms of life. God’s word is a rock that is unshaken, secure and unmoved by the chaos and trials we go through in life. He promises to see you through in your darkest moments in life and make your night shine like noonday.

Not only does His presence accompany you, He goes ahead of you to prepare the way, removing the obstacles and levelling the mountains that stand against you. You may be at a point in life where you feel like you have reached the end, like there’s no way around for you. But God is still able to make a way where there seemed to be none.

When God goes ahead of us, we are not walking into the unknown; but we are walking into what God has already prepared, which means He’s got us covered. He’s got provisions lined up for us, His Grace, protection, peace and strength.

When we fall, when we are met with disappointments, when we experience loss, when we fail and even when we come against unexpected giants in life, we choose not to be shaken by them because God has got us covered. He walks with us, and He is presently with us even in the middle of the unknown. He already has solutions prepared for problems we haven’t met yet.

Hold on to Him, stand firm on His word and promises and trust in His plans. He knows the way better than we do. The Almighty God who goes ahead of us is our defence, our peace, and our guide. “The LORD your God, who is going before you, will fight for you” – Deuteronomy 1:30

Each day that we get to live, we can place our confidence in the truth that God is with us. We are not alone. Despite whatever situations of life we get to face, we can place our confidence in Him, the Almighty God who walks with us and goes ahead of us, leading the way. In Him, we find peace; we remain secure and unshaken. With every step we take into the unknown, He's beside us, leading us into the Promised Land, a place already prepared in advance when we choose to follow in His ways. God remembers you and calls you by name. You are not forgotten nor forsaken. God has great plans for you, and with His gentle hands, He will carry you through His plans.

  “But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. ” – Psalm 13:5 Psalm 13 is one of the shortest psalms of David, and yet a powerful one.
