Storing Treasures in Heaven
Matthew 6:20 (NIV)
“But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.”
Every day, we are depositing something—either into earthly accounts or heavenly ones. Jesus gently reminds us that while earthly treasures have their place, they are fragile. They fade, break, rust, get stolen, or lose meaning over time. But heavenly treasures endure forever. These become eternal deposits that time cannot erase.
Jesus did not say, “Do not have earthly treasures,” but rather, “Do not store only there.” Why? Because what we treasure reveals where our heart truly is. When we invest in heaven—through character, faithfulness, service, and love—we anchor our hearts in what is everlasting.
True riches are not about how much we gather, but how much we give. Not about what we own, but what we build for eternity. One day, everything on this earth will pass away, but the treasures we have stored in heaven will greet us on the other side.
So today, choose investments that matter forever. Love deeply. Give generously. Serve quietly. Live faithfully. These are the currencies of heaven.
🛐 Prayer
Lord, teach me to invest in what truly lasts. Help me store treasures in heaven through my words, actions, and heart. May my life be a reflection of Your kingdom and a deposit into eternity. Amen.
