When everything shakes, God’s love remains steady

 Grounded in Unfailing Love, Growing Through Every Storm.

“Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant for peace be removed,” says the LORD, who has compassion for you.”- Isaiah 54:10

Isaiah 54:10 is one of the comforting and assuring words of God to us whenever we find ourselves in unfamiliar situations where everything seems shaky. It is a message of hope and restoration in times of trouble and uncertainty.

He begins to say, ‘Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed,’ He uses the imagery of mountains and hills to represent the things in our lives that we take as being permanent and stable. Even these things will surely crumble, but His love will remain unshaken. His love for us doesn’t depend on our performance or circumstances but is founded on compassion. He not only draws our attention from them but directs it to His unfailing love.

Our focus should be on His unfailing love; that’s where our lives need to be built on. Our circumstances may change, and everything around us may suddenly become shaky and fall apart. However, God assures us that His love and peace will outlast our present storms and challenges. He’s faithful to His word and whatever He says, He shall fulfil.

What we need to ask ourselves is: What foundation have we built our confidence on? Is our confidence built on earthly things, or is it built on God’s unfailing love? Isaiah 54:10 is not just a promise but a reminder that God loves you. He loves you despite your present challenges, failures, shortcomings or fears. His love for you and me is steady, secure and unfailing.

As you go about your day, it is important to know that God loves you, He sees you, and He certainly hasn’t forgotten about you. When we anchor our lives on His love, peace, and compassion, we remain steady and unshaken even in the midst of a crisis. David also reminds us in Psalm 46:2, ‘Though the earth give way…we will not fear’. The enemy may use fear to make us bow down to it, but we refuse to do that. We have God’s assuring words of hope and comfort that His love will never be shaken, and we choose that as our firm foundation for our lives.

Father in heaven, I thank you for your unfailing love and peace that keeps us firm and steady even in the midst of trials. Help us to remain steadfast as we build and grow our confidence in your unfailing love in Jesus' name, amen.
