CHOSEN FOR A PURPOSE
Living Boldly in the Confidence of God’s Calling
“I took you from the ends of the
earth,
from its farthest corners I called you.
I said, ‘You are my servant’;
I have chosen you and have not rejected you.
So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”- Isaiah 41:9-10 (NIV)
If
you ever feel forgotten, unloved, unwanted, or afraid, Isaiah 41:9-10 serves as
a reminder of God’s love, help, support, and care for you within His purpose
for your life. In verse 9, He begins by saying, ‘I took you from the ends of
the earth, from the farthest corners I called you.’
In life, we may encounter various trials and storms. And in the midst of that storm, we often get lost in pain, confusion, and depression to the point where we can’t recognise ourselves anymore or our purpose. You may have messed things up pretty badly in your life, and you feel like you are unwanted or unworthy of God’s love because of the sins of your past.
There’s
no place where God’s presence can’t reach. Even in the darkest corners of your
heart, God can still shine light and find the lost you. You may have lost your
sense of direction and purpose in life, due to a series of unforgiveness, hurt,
grief, and pain, but God’s purpose for you hasn’t been lost or changed. He
still cares for you, and He’s calling you from the darkest and farthest corners
in your life for a divine purpose.
The
rest of the world may disqualify you, disapprove of you and forget about you. However,
the Good News is, you are God’s best choice. He approves of you, qualifies you,
and He calls you by name for His purpose. His call on your life is personal and
purposeful. It may feel like you are far away from God (spiritually,
emotionally, or physically), but He knows where you are and He’s calling you
back to Himself.
You
may not be very courageous to do what God is calling you to, but you can place
your confidence in the truth that He is right there with you. “So do not
fear, for I am with you.” The fear that is in you will slowly fade away when
you realise who’s walking beside you. You are not alone; God is with you.
Not
only does God promise His presence, but also His strength, help and support.
“I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
His righteous hand represents His faithfulness and power to protect, provide
and deliver. He promises to be an active helper in the journey that He has
called us and not an observer. We can build our confidence on God’s presence
and supportive hand. Just as David writes in Psalm 46:1, “God is our refuge and
strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”
No
matter how far you feel from God, He is still near and He calls you by name.
His purpose for you is still valid. You are chosen by Him and not rejected. The
enemy may cause fear to rise high in your life, but let Isaiah 41:9-10 serve as
a reminder of His presence, purpose and support for your life, and fear will
begin to fade away. No matter the difficulties you are experiencing, find the
confidence in this: God has personally hand-picked you for a divine purpose that can be fulfilled only by you. You
are loved, chosen and cared for. His presence becomes your peace, his hands
your stability and His strength your support.
Prayer:
Heavenly
Father, we thank you for your unfailing love. Lord, you see us, and even when
we are lost in our darkest and furthest parts, your Grace still reaches us and you
call us by name. We thank you for your purpose and the good plans you have for each
one of us. Help us to rely on you, let your presence, Lord, be our peace. And your
righteous right hand that chose us be our strength, in Jesus’ name, amen.
