The Promise is Near
“In just a little while, he who is coming will come and will not delay.”- Hebrews 10:37
Do you
sometimes worry when God’s promises for you seem to take longer than expected?
Does your soul get restless while waiting for God to fulfil His promise,
especially when you don’t see any progress yet? Often, people get restless and
worried whenever God’s promises seem to take longer than they expected. And yet,
we forget that it is God who gives such amazing promises to us. He knows when
and how to fulfil it. If there’s anything that we can firmly hold on to, it's
the promises of God.
Hebrews
10:23 encourages us to “Hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who
promised is faithful.” God is faithful, and He can never go against his word.
Deep within, you know the promises that God has spoken to you. The promises of
God for your life are something that we need to stand on. They are like an anchor
of hope to keep us steady and firm in God.
If we
are not careful and decide to listen to the enemy’s voice, we will easily give
up on God. We would then start to worry, get anxious, lose hope, and try to do
things our own way. Sometimes we give up because we view God’s promises as
something far off, that which will occur in years to come. God wants us to view
his promises as something he will do in a little while.
If your
spirit is troubled because you don’t see any progress concerning what God said,
go ahead and encourage yourself that “In a little while, God will provide what I
have been waiting for.” “In a little while, God will fulfil his promises upon
me.” Do not give the enemy room to torment you in your mind with thoughts like:
“God will never honour his promises to you,” or “It’s too late, that can never
happen,” or “What you are hoping for is impossible, better to try it your own
way.”
Friend,
keep your mind guarded with God’s truth. God is faithful. God is capable of
doing what He says He will do, and what He has spoken, He will bring it to pass.
Before God gives you the promise, you have to go through the process of waiting
in expectancy and waiting in endurance. You have to pass the tests of the waiting
process before God gives you the promise.
Sometimes
the promise hasn’t happened yet because God is preparing you, developing you
and maturing you until you are ready to handle the promise. If God fulfils His
promises to you now when you are not ready, it would be a burden rather than a
blessing. Learn to trust God while you are waiting, and allow God to develop
you as you wait.
Trust God
even when you don’t see any sign, trust God even when it seems to take longer.
Trust God with confidence, knowing that even now, He’s working something behind
the scenes, and that He’s aligning everything to work in your favour. People
may try to talk you out of believing and trusting in God, telling you that God
is far off and doesn’t hear your prayers. But your enemies don’t know God like
we do. This is where faith has to kick in. They may try to ridicule you for waiting
on God, but deep within you know that you serve the God who is a promise-keeper
and God who is faithful to His word.
David
writes in Psalm 40:1, “I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and
heard my cry.” As you wait patiently for God to fulfil His promises to you, do
not stop to praise Him while you are waiting. Give praises to God, even when you
don’t see any sign, praise Him even when the waiting seems too long and praise
Him as He continues to mature you in the process.
God is
never slack in His work and never a second late. At the proper time, He will do
what He said He will do in your favour. Hold on firmly to His promises; do not
let the enemy convince you otherwise. In a little while, you will be able to
witness God’s faithfulness in your life. Rejoice in the promises that God has
proclaimed to you, stand firm as you go through the process of waiting and
trust Him always.
