God Sees Everything

“For your ways are in full view of the LORD, and he examines all your paths.” – Proverbs 5:21
In Exodus chapter 2, when Moses was going about his business he decided to go down to where his people were and he watched them going through the hard labor under the hands of the Egyptians. He saw an Egyptian cruelly beating his fellow Hebrew. He looked to the right and to the left and noticed that no one was watching him; he then killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand.
So many times we have done things in secret hoping that no one will find out. Just like Moses, we’ve done evil things under the cover of darkness thinking that our secret is will be secure. However, that is not always the case. For Proverbs 5:21 says, “For your ways are in full view of the LORD, and he examines all your paths.” Is there anything that a person can hide from the LORD?” No.

The problem is that our conscious has grown numb towards God. We no longer have the fear of the LORD in our hearts and whatever we do, we no longer consider whether it pleases God or not. As Proverbs says, “For your ways are in full view of the LORD” which means that God sees everything, He knows what is in your heart, even your very own thoughts, God is aware of them. There’s nothing that you can hide from God. There’s no place that you can run to where God’s presence isn’t there. Psalm 139:12 reads, “even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.

When we grow conscious of the presence of God in our lives, it helps us do the right thing. And that’s where integrity comes in. Integrity means doing the right thing even when no one is watching. However, when we grow numb towards God, that’s when people start to fall further away from God. All the evil of this world starts to crop up, thus people begin to steal, to commit murder, adultery, to cheat, or take short-cuts in life. Just like Moses, we look to the right and to the left seeing that no one is watching that’s when we do evil things before the eyes of God. And yet we forgot to look up where God is watching us from.

You may be tempted to say, ‘Well, it’s nothing much no one will find out or notice anyway’, and yet you forget that whatever you do in secret or in darkness it is like broad daylight to God. Proverb 10:9 reads, “Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but whoever takes crooked paths will be found out”

Remember King David? At a time when kings go off to war, David decided to remain behind. As he was walking on the rooftop of his palace, he saw a woman bathing. Instead of turning around and go back, he stayed on and continued to watch the woman bath and lusted after her. He enquired who the woman was and had her brought to the palace and he slept with her. When David realized that Bathsheba was pregnant, he had her husband killed in the battle in order to keep the affair secret. As a result of David’s contempt towards God, God brought calamity into his household.

Friends, it is important that we make a choice of whether to be led by the Spirit of God or to be led by the desires of our flesh. When we choose to walk after the desires of our flesh that is when we end up committing sin before God. On the other hand, when we choose to be led by the Spirit of God we begin to do those things that please God. God desires that we walk according to his ways, and to do the right thing that pleases him.
When you are tempted to do something, ask yourself, ‘Does it please God when I do such a thing? Will it put me in right standing with God?’ At the back of your mind, you should always remember that God is watching, he knows your thoughts, and the motives behind it. The devil lies in wait ready to pounce on anyone whose heart is not properly guarded. 1 Peter 5:7 says, “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” Resist the devil, you don’t have to give in to his desires.

For whatever things you do, good or evil will always come from your heart. Proverbs 4:26, encourages us to “Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways.” Before you do anything, it is important that you first check with God. If what you intend to do shows red flags on God’s radar, then don’t do it. Be quick to do all things which God gives green light to.

Key things to remember as we go about our business: God sees everything, He knows everything and everywhere you go, He’s there. I pray that we may continue to grow conscious of God’s presence in our life.
