Worry Not, nor be Afraid. God Cares about You

Let not your heart be troubled neither let it be afraid.” – John 14:27

With everything that is going on in the world right now it seems hard not to be afraid or worried. Fear and anxiety seems to embrace us so easily with little or no resistance. So, we worry about the finances, the future, the things we will need tomorrow, we worry about the things we don’t have, even what we have we still worry that we might lose them. What worrying does is to stop you from being hopeful, and from enjoying the joy and peace that our Lord Jesus gave us.

Today, Jesus is encouraging you and me to receive His peace, and not to be anxious. “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled neither let it be afraid.”[John 14:27] When we have the peace of God in our hearts, it is possible to stay hopeful, joyful and peaceful despite whatever circumstances we find ourselves in. The peace of God is our strength and shield against thoughts of fear, worry and the negativities of this world.

What do you constantly worry about? Whatever it is that you constantly worry about; it will not change until you let God take care of it. You must be smart enough to realize that by worrying it doesn’t change your current situation. What worrying does is to keep your mind going round in circles about a particular problem. God cares about you, and more than willing to help you overcome your fears and anxieties. “Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; He will not let the righteous be shaken.”[Psalm 55:22]

When we worry, what we are actually doing is giving away our power and freedom to the devil so he may agitate, intimidate, disturb, and weigh our hearts down. The devil likes it when we are afraid, worried, anxious, agitated, sad, and hopeless. Friends, let us be vigilant and sober so we may be aware of the kinds of thoughts we allow into our minds. Remember, the devil is walking about seeking to find anyone whose mind is defenseless so he may torture and devour through thoughts of fear and worry. Guard your heart and mind so you may not fall into traps of worry and negativity.

Picture this, when you go out for shopping to buy new cloths, you take your time searching for the best cloth that would fit you well, you pick the one that would make you look good and standout, or the one that would make you feel good about yourself because you want to look good before people. In the same way, we should take time analyzing the kind of thoughts that enter into our minds. Would such thoughts bring joy into our lives or bring sadness? Do such thoughts bring hope or despair? Do they strengthen our will or drain our energy? If you can choose the best cloths to wear; then, you can choose the positive kind of thoughts to dwell in your mind.

I pray that you would constantly dwell your minds on thing that are above, thoughts that give you hope, thoughts that strengthen your will, thoughts that brings joy into your life. I pray that you cast your cares upon the LORD so He may sustain you and enjoy His peace. Be Blessed.

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your request be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
