Who Would Have Thought?

But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded. – 2 Chronicle 15:7

Our Heavenly Father is very strategic in His planning. Nothing that happens to us is a surprise to Him. God knew us by name even before we were formed in our mother’s womb. Our lives are perfectly planned from the beginning to the end. Even the things we would need in years to come, these God knows. God’s plans for our lives are to prosper us and not to harm us.

In the Bible, we learn of a woman by the name Rahab. She was a prostitute from Jericho who happened to save the lives of Israelite spies from being caught by the authorities of Jericho. Because of her faith and courage, she allowed the two spies to safely escape the authorities through her window.  I wonder, who would have thought that Rahab who was once a prostitute would be listed in the genealogy of Jesus Christ?

Like Rahab, most of the time we disqualify ourselves based on the present circumstances. We see how we can never accomplish anything in life because of the temporary misfortunes, the heartbreaks, the setbacks, the pain and even our own shortcomings. We do this because we have trained our mind to only see the lack, the obstacles and all our shortcomings.

As God says in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the thought and plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” He has wonderful and amazing plans for each one of us. I believe God intends to do great things through us. It is important that we retrain our minds to focus on the good, the promises of God upon our lives. If we could only see our lives through God’s eyes, then we wouldn’t settle for less, we wouldn’t be discouraged, or we wouldn’t be shaken by trials and challenges but we would stay in faith.

Do not be discouraged by how impossible things may seem, like what God told Mary mother of Jesus and Jairus, I believe He is telling you and me, “For with God nothing is impossible”, and to Jairus “Do not be afraid; only believe.” There are breakthroughs after the obstacles, healing after the sickness, joy after period of sadness;  only believe in what God says about you, in the good thoughts He has for you and also believe in the word of God. God will cause things to turn around for in your life and begin to think, ‘Who would have thought?’

Stay in faith, there are ‘Who would have thoughts?’ coming into your life. Soon you will be saying: ‘I thought I was done, but who would have thought I would be here today? I thought this sickness would take me, but who would have thought I would be alive today? I thought I would stay single for the rest of my life but who would have thought I would have a lifelong partner? I thought I would be childless but who would have thought that I would be breastfeeding now?

Be encouraged, “Let us not become weary in doing good for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9. Don’t give up on yourself, your relationships, your family, or your career. Believe in God and He will provide the strength and the will to pursue your dreams. Stay open and stay in faith God is about to do a new thing in your life. Be blessed!
