Turn up The Sounds of Praise to God
“Make Joyful shouts to the Lord all you lands” – Psalm 100:1
What has God promised you? What obstacles are you currently facing in your journey towards God’s promises for you? Be encouraged, for the biblical story of Joshua will encourage you to face and overcome any form of obstacles that are standing between you and the promises of God in your life.
Canaan was the Promised Land to the Israelites by God. However, to possess the land they first had to overtake the city of Jericho which was extremely formidable. Even with their military prowess they couldn’t overtake the city on their own they needed God. So, God instructed Joshua with a very strange plan. He told him to march the army around the walls of Jericho once each day for six days. The priests were also instructed to carry the ark of God, blowing trumpets but the armed men were to keep silent during the entire marching process. On the seventh day, the assembly marched around the walls of Jericho seven times. And when the priests had blown the trumpets, Joshua instructed the people to shout and the walls of Jericho fell down.
Just like how God promised the Israelites the Land of Canaan; He has also placed big dreams and promises in our hearts. We know clearly what He promised us; a child, businesses, a partner, a financial break-through, or organizations to help the less fortunate. But when we consider the obstacles that are before us, we are tempted to think of how big the obstacles seem impossible for us to overcome. So we end up giving up even before trying. The problem is that we consider the problem more than we should considering how big and Mighty our God is.
God is very strategic in His planning. He knew the obstacles you were going to face and the solutions to every problem before hand. When He gave you the promise, He knew how to put it into completion. What is required of us is to depend on Him and obey His instructions. There is no obstacle that God can’t overcome. God is a Mighty Warrior, the All Powerful and Creator of Heaven and Earth.
There’s a reason why the armed men of Israelites were instructed to remain silent as they were marching around the walls of Jericho. The purpose was to silent the voices doubt, fear, defeat and worry. Like these armed men, it is time that you silent the voices of fear, defeat and doubt that are playing in your mind. We are encouraged to turn up the sounds of praises and joy to the Lord whenever you are facing obstacles that seem too big for you to overcome.
It is the sounds of praises to God that brought down the walls of Jericho. Whatever you are up against, instead of speaking words of defeat, fear and doubt; speak out words of victory, that ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me’ or ‘if God be for me, who can be against me’ speak words of faith, that ‘Lord, I thank you that My children shall be mighty in the land.’ Sing songs of praises to God always in all circumstances. I believe when your mind is filled with songs of praises and thoughts of victory even when situations seem impossible you leave no room for the enemy to convince you otherwise.
Let this be an encouragement to each one of us to always magnify the power of God rather than our problems. To habitually sing songs of praises to God in our mind and hearts locking out thoughts of fear and defeat. It is my prayers that whatever journey God has prepared for you, you will listen and yield to His voice and commands as He continues to help you become and achieve what He promised you. Be Blessed.
“He is the one you praise; he is your God, who performed for you those great and awesome wonders you saw with your own eyes.” – Deuteronomy 10:21
