Patiently Wait on God
Rest in
the LORD, and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of Him who prospers
in his way because of a man who brings wicked schemes to pass - Psalm 37:7
What do you do when God seems too
late? What do you do when everyone else seems to be making progress but you keep
falling behind? You know in your heart there are big dreams that God put in
you, but nothing of it seems to be happening. You’ve prayed, and fasted but
heaven seem silent on you. According to your calendar, you are running out of
time, and you feel like your chance to become and do what God put in your heart
is slowly slipping away from you.
In the Bible, God promised Abraham
that He will bless him with a son. The promise seemed too big for Abraham to
manifest due to his age. So, he waited and waited until he couldn’t wait any
longer. He went ahead and had a son with his handmaid. However, this was not
the promised son. Like Abraham, we give up on God’s promises because we think
He’s taking too long to act.
We know God as our builder, and
whatever that God builds, He builds bit by bit. Everything is a process, and
waiting is also part of the process. It’s in the waiting period that the devil
attacks our mind the most. The devil makes you think that God is running late,
you feel pressured to catch up with everyone else, and he doesn’t want you to
notice that God is only building your character. So, what do you do? Often, we
listen to the lies in our head and become frustrated, bitter; we give up and
have that pity-party on ourselves.
Have you noticed that patience is
the only fruit of the Holy Spirit that is developed through trials? To be
victorious, it is important that we understand that patient is something that
God will have to develop in us. However, as usual we don’t like to wait. We
only want the end product without going through the process.
It’s in the waiting period that we
compare our lives with others. Because your life has taken a pause you wonder,
is there anything wrong with me? And you feel like you are not getting
anywhere. Friends, be encouraged. This is only a test of your commitment
towards the promises that God has for you. It’s only part of the process that
needs you to be diligent, discipline, steadfast, and with a renewed mindset. Do
not give up on your race. Look up to God when you are facing any form of
discouragement for His word will strengthen your will to wait on Him.
Waiting period may be hard,
challenging and sometimes frustrating. But did you know that God is only
developing your character while you are waiting? Did you know that your faith is
tested in order to birth hope, patience and endurance? How we wait matters the
most. God is concerned with HOW our
character develops while we wait rather than WHAT we are waiting for. What are you waiting for? How are you
waiting? Do you find yourself frustrated, anxious, bitter, sad, or hopeless?
Let go of the frustrations and let God do His will according to His timing as
He continues to build you. What good does it do to you if you have everything
your heart desires and yet your character is not fully developed?
As you continue to wait for God to
come through, I pray that you let your patience be active, be hopeful in the
Lord, run your race patiently and resist the pressures of life that may
surround you. The waiting period is only a test of your character. Be of good
attitude and pass the test. Sometimes, the WHY
you may not understand when you face trial, but rejoice there’s God’s love
behind the WHY. Be blessed.
“But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.”- James 1:4
