No Rush, Just Be Still!
Be still,
and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted
in the earth! Psalm 46:10
Recently, I was in a
hurry to leave my workplace but I needed to first download some documents
online. For some reason, my phone abruptly shut down. I didn’t know why it
happened; I had enough charge on my battery. So, I switched it on once again
and resumed the download process. Moments later, even before the download was
complete my phone shut down again. Now this became very frustrating because I
was in a hurry to leave. About that time, a customer walked in and made a
transaction of significant value. I thought to myself, if I had closed the shop
few minutes earlier I would have missed that customer. But because God caused
the delay through my phone shutting down I was able to serve the customer.
Ever been in a situation
like this? You are in a rush to get somewhere or to do something but somehow
you get delayed. May be you are delayed in traffic, or you are stuck in a slow
moving queue, or you are working on a project on your computer but the internet
connection slows your progress down. Such cases are very common in life. Often,
we get so frustrated when we are caught up in such situations. We easily lose
our cool by complaining, yelling, cursing and blaming other when really these
are situations that are out of our control.
Sometimes when we do
things hurriedly we miss the good things, we make poor judgment of situations that
leads to regrets and end up losing our joy and peace. Life has more to offer
when we take time to notice and enjoy what is around us. When you are caught up
in situations that are tempting you to rush things or you are caught up in a
delay; instead of complaining and being bitter, simply just relax and ask yourself:
Is it really worth it to lose my peace and joy over something that I can’t
control?
The delay is only a
small test. Can you keep a good attitude even when you are caught up in a
delay? Are you patient enough to learn and enjoy the things that God is trying
to show you instead of rushing through things? Sometimes, we need to let go of
the rush and go with the flow of God. Let God guide you through situations that
can easily take away your joy and peace.
It’s very comforting
when you understand that you are at the right place and time where God wants
you to be when you let Him take control of your life. There’s God’s favor when
you are in His presence and when He is leading you to His chosen path for your
life. He knows your life better and the right paths for you. I pray that you
may be still and cast your cares unto the Lord, and He will shepherd you
through situations that seem chaotic. Be blessed!
