He Restores my Soul

“He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.” – Psalm 23:3

The Lord is our Shepherd, and we are His sheep. And the Good Shepherd guides His sheep to the right path; the paths of righteousness and when we are lost, He brings us back to His fold. The intentions of God are for us to walk in His chosen paths. His ways always lead to righteousness and not to sin. Without the leadership and guidance of God, we get lost in our sinful ways. Every aspect of our lives is dependent on His guidance, His authority and His leadership in order for us to bear fruits. It is important that we commit our ways to God and let Him lead the way. God’s way always leads to eternal life.

Sheep are known to recognize the voice of their shepherd. As God’s followers, it is important to know and recognize the voice of our Lord. It is through following His voice, and commands that we are led in the paths of righteousness. By disobeying the voice of God, we find ourselves walking into sin. It is through His love and Grace that we get our souls restored, and become righteous before Him in order for God to have all the glory. We cannot restore our souls on our own; nor can we become righteous before God through our works alone. It is only by the Grace of God that we are made righteous.

How wonderful and peaceful it is to know that God is ordering your steps, and that He is leading you to righteousness. It is even more comforting when you understand this, that even though the paths that you are walking through are difficult, and challenging that God is right there with you leading you through. And in the end, when all is said and done; when we are crowned victorious, God receives all the glory and praises for His faithfulness in our lives.

It is the desire of the Shepherd for all His sheep to be in His fold. And when one gets snatched away by the pleasures of life, He leaves the ninety-nine and goes after the one that is lost to bring him back. Our Heavenly Father is in the business of restoring lost souls. And His desires are for everyone to dwell in His Kingdom. It is through His Love that He sent His only Son to die on the cross for our sins; so that we may live and our souls may be restored. What a loving Father we have! I pray that we may all surrender to His will, that we may obey His word and follow through the paths that God has chosen for us; the paths that leads to righteousness.
