Even If...
But even if He doesn’t, we want to make it clear to you, your Majesty, that we will never serve your gods, or worship the gold statue you have set up. Daniel 3:18
In the Bible, Job was a wealthy man blessed by God in all his ways as he was blameless and upright man. One day Satan appeared before God asking for permission to torment job as a way of testing his faithfulness to God. Satan thought that Job’s faithfulness in God was based on his wealth and God’s blessings. Therefore, God allowed Satan to torment Job. In the same day, Job received heartbreaking news that his livestock, servants and ten children have all died. Job goes into mourning, but he continues to bless God. His circumstance became worse when Satan afflicted him with skin sores; even his wife encouraged him to curse God but he refused. Friends came to comfort him but it didn’t do him any good. He stayed loyal to God and continued to praise Him. Afterwards, God blessed him double of what he had lost.
In life, we will always find ourselves in trying times. Some of us have found ourselves in situations that are similar to Job’s. Situations where we’ve lost our business, loved ones have died, going through divorce, friends walking out on you, or going broke. Going through such situations is often heartbreaking. You may be tempted to think that God has forsaken you or that God is punishing you. No. Be encouraged. Like Job we can fully put our trust in God no matter the circumstances we ourselves in; we won’t give up on God.
We are encouraged to have ‘even if’ faith. That even if my business goes down I will still worship God; even if my loved one dies though I expected healing I will continue to trust God; even if my breakthrough doesn’t come I will still trust God; even if I don’t get what I prayed for my trust will still be in God; even if my health doesn’t improve I will sing songs of praise to God; even if I don’t understand the reasons for my current tribulations I will trust God. This is the kind of faith we should cultivate in our lives whenever things aren’t going the way we thought.
Just like the three Hebrew teenagers, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego when they were forced to worship false gods; they told the king that even if our God doesn’t save us, we will not worship your gold statue. Friends, God love for you and me is certain. Our tribulations of life can never separate us from the love of God. Let this be something to always hold on when your life is shaken by trials of life. That no matter what life throws at you; you will still cling on God for support. The desires of God are for us to always depend on Him.
Knowing and understanding the true character of God helps us to cultivate even if faith. God is always faithful, loving, gracious, forgiving, and He never change. It is my prayers that your faith in God will continue to grow steadily and that you will have that even If faith in God. Be Blessed!
Even if God doesn’t act according to my timetable; I will still praise Him for the times He showed me His goodness at the right time.
