Blessed Assurance

“And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.” – Luke 7:23

In the Bible, while John the Baptist was in prison he sent two of his disciples to Jesus, to find out whether Jesus was really the Messiah, the Coming One. Remember John the Baptist was the one who baptized Jesus, and clearly heard the voice of God from heaven saying, ‘You are my Beloved Son in You I a well pleased.” Now, he’s in doubt not sure really if Jesus was the Coming One. When the disciples of John asked Jesus, “Are you the Coming One or do we look for another?” Jesus replied, “Go and tell John the things you have seen and heard: that the blind see, the lame walk, the leapers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have the gospel preached to them.” Luke 7:22

Very often, we’ve heard God’s voice in our hearts, the promises He put in us, and the purpose He has commissioned us with. At the beginning we become so excited about accomplishing the dreams that God put in our hearts. However, along the way when things get a little tougher, when we are faced with trials of life we begin to question ourselves. Even though you may be doing the right thing, you still have questions in your heart: Am I really doing the right thing? Did I really make the right choice? Is this where I am supposed to be? Did I hear God’s voice right? Sometimes because we allow questions of doubt to play on our minds we may think like we are lost but in real sense you are not.

Just like John, this often happens to most of us. You did the right thing, and you know you are on the right track but you still have doubts within yourself because of the stumbling blocks that you are facing. Friends, do not be dismayed by the forces that are working against you. Keep doing the right thing and put your trust in Jesus. Believe only in God. Paul encourages us, instead of falling into worries we should turn our worries into prayers. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7.

We are assured of God’s peace when we habitually rely on Him. We are assured of God’s love and that He cares for each one of us. “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7. If you are doing what God called you to do, and you feel like you are not making any progress to the point of doubting your work; do not quit or doubt yourself. You are on track. Keep doing your best, serve your purpose and God will take care of you. “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong” 1 Corinthians 16:13

If your call is to be a parent or guardian to someone, then be the best parent in the world. If your calling is to take care of the less fortunate, then be the best friend to them. Whatever calling you have on your life, do it to the fullest of your abilities in order to please God. Challenges may come that should annoy you, make you resentful, or make you stumble; but Jesus is encouraging us, whatever may occur should not make us lose our faith in God. It is my prayers that we may always rise above the challenges of life by trusting and believing in God. He cares for you and won’t leave you alone. Be Blessed.

“For God did not give us a spirit of fear but of power and love and self-control” 1 Peter 5:7
