Where is your Faith

‘Where is your faith?’Luke 8:25

Jesus Christ asked his disciples, ‘Where is your faith?’ It happened when they were sailing in a boat from Galilee to the country of the Gadarenes. As they were sailing, Jesus fell asleep and the windstorm came upon them. Being afraid that they would die in the storm, they woke Jesus up. And Jesus was able to command the storm to calm down.

After calming the storm, He asked them: ‘Where is your faith?’ I believe the same question is being asked of us when we are faced with life’s challenges, when the storm is right upon us, when our loved one dies, when we lose our jobs, when we lose all our finances, when we are facing divorce, or when life is exactly the opposite of what we expected?

Where is our faith? Where do we lay our confidence, in whom do we lean on when our circumstances become unbearable? The disciples of Jesus acted in fear even though Jesus was right there with them. Why were they afraid? Is it because they forgot the great works of Jesus Christ? Is it because they thought that they were alone at sea with no one to rescue them? Is it because they did not recognize that Jesus Christ the Son of God was right there with them in the midst of the storm? Is it because they did not recognize and acknowledge the Mighty power of God and what He can do?

When we are faced with challenging situations in life, we naturally feel fear and hence acting on it. We can feel fear, but we need to act in faith. The disciples of Jesus forgot the great miracles of their Master which they had seen Him perform before their eyes. They had seen Him heal the sick, raise the dead, heal the leapers, make the blind to see, the deaf to hear, the dumb to speak and they had seen him cast out demons. But they did not remember the Mighty power that was with Jesus Christ. That’s why they were afraid. They did not put their faith in Jesus, the Son of God who was right there with them during the storm.

In the same way, God has helped us countless times in our lives, we have witnessed His miracles in our life countless times but as usual we forget Him. We no longer remember the times when God provided a way where there was none, when you thought your life was over, He restored your life, your health. The times when you were lonely, He became your friend, He comforted you and renewed your spirit. Such and many more ways God have shown Himself to us; why do we always forget Him and His goodness in our lives?

When the storm hits, fear envelopes us, we tend to think that we are alone and that God has deserted us. We then act in fear, we worry, we become anxious, and afraid. This is because there is nowhere and no one to lean on. The good news is, we have Christ Jesus in our midst. He is right there with you in your wilderness, in your storm, in your difficult situation Jesus Christ is right there with you. All that is required of you and I is to believe in Him and trusting in Him through the storm.

Remember the good that God has done in your life, the million little miracles He has done every single second of your life. By remembering what God has done for us in the past and present gives us the strength to withstand and conquer every storm that comes our way. Always, learn to lean on God. Whatever the circumstances that you are in; learn to lean on, have confidence in and trust in Him. He is right there with you. Acknowledge His Mighty power in your life. God is greater than the illness you have, He’s greater than your financial burdens, than the heartbreak, than the loss, or any adversaries that may come upon you.

Again, where is your faith? Let your faith dwell in the Lord. He who created the Heavens and the Earth; He who breathes life into you, He who sent His Son Christ Jesus to die for your sins and mine, He who calls you His Beloved child. I pray that your faith in the Lord may always grow strong, and that you and I may always depend on Him in everything by inviting Christ Jesus into our lives. Be Blessed!
