The Lord Himself will provide
“The Lord Himself will provide.” – Genesis 22:8
For each one, God has placed dreams, visions, purpose and dreams for us to achieve and accomplish in life. The dreams and visions that God places in us are usually big and beyond our means. The question is, what has God placed in you? Do you find yourself from time to time wondering how you can ever make it happened? Worry not, because anything that God orders; He pays.
In Genesis 22, God told Abraham to take his only son Isaac, and offer him as a sacrifice. What God asked Abraham to do was difficult, big and beyond him; to sacrifice his only son in place of a lamb. In obedience, he rose early and went to the place God instructed him to offer his son as sacrifice. As they were heading up the mountain, his son asked, ‘Where is the lamb for the sacrifice?’ But Abraham replied, ‘The Lord Himself will provide’. When he was about to do it, an angel of the Lord stopped him, and instead a lamb was provided for the sacrifice.
Like Abraham, God has asked us to do something big, that which is beyond our capacity. And sometimes what God asks us to do, will not always make sense. The question is, are we willing to take a step of faith and obey? Very often, we compare our dreams with our current situation and conclude that it can never happen, it’s too impossible. This is because of fear. Because we are afraid, we don’t take the first step towards our dream. Because of fear, we doubt and put off God’s calling on our lives. Because of fear, often; we settle in our comfort zones. Don’t let that be you. Be courageous and begin the journey.
First, we must step out of our comfort zone in order to realize the great things God has in-store for us. If Abraham hadn’t stepped out to offer his son as sacrifice, he wouldn’t have received the blessings and the promises of God. His blessing was: his descendants shall be blessed and multiply like the stars of heavens. And in his seed [Christ] shall all the nations of the earth be blessed. You and I need to step out and do what God has commissioned us to do. There are blessings that will run through generations when we act in obedience to fulfil the will of God in our lives.
Secondly, in all things we must confidently put our trust in God knowing that He will provide. Take that step of faith knowing that vision came from God. We need to have an attitude like Abraham’s whenever we are faced with troubling situations. When you lack resources to continue with your dream, the attitude should be; ‘The Lord Himself will provide’. Or when you hit a dead-end, your attitude should be; ‘The Lord Himself will provide a way.’ “The Lord Himself will provide” should be our everyday attitude as we walk towards fulfilling God’s will for our lives. The Lord’s provision will always follow the vision. Keep that dream alive and work towards achieving your purpose and dream. It’s never too late to dream again. Be Blessed!
