Change is Good
Life is seasonal. There are seasons
like winter, autumn, spring and summer. That is how it’s been and it will
always be like that. When it comes to weather, we understand it perfectly well.
When it is cold season, we put on heavy cloths to keep us warm because it fits
the season. When the season is hot, we adjust our outfits. We put on lighter
cloths suitable for the season. We do this easily and confidently without fear
or worry because we understand the timing and the season, we are in.
In the same way, our life keeps on
transitioning from one phase to the other. There are good times and hard times.
Time for joy and time for sadness. Time to wait and time to grow. Very often,
when we transition from one phase of life to the other, we are faced with
doubt, fear, and anxiety. This is because we resist resist change.
When you transition from hot season
to cold a season, you gear yourself with proper clothing to keep you warm
during the cold season that is ahead of you. Without the proper gear, it would
be very difficult to survive the hard weather. In the same way, when we
transition from one season of life to the other, we need to understand that
things are shifting. That we are moving from one season to the next. When you
understand this, you then equip yourself with proper gear. Things that will
help you get through the hard times. And the word of God is what you really
need when transitioning through seasons.
Sometimes, God moves us from our
comfort zone and into a different phase of life in order to grow us, to develop
us, and to strengthen our faith in Him. It may be difficult but it is
necessary. Whatever the season that God has you in, learn to enjoy where you
are while on a journey to where He intends you to be. It is important to keep a
good attitude while you are in the difficult seasons of your life. As it is
said, “Growth and comfort don’t always coexist.”
When you feel afraid or unsure of
the future, God encourages you to be “Be strong, vigorous, and very
courageous. Be not afraid, neither be dismayed, for the Lord God is with you
wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9). Do not be afraid or discouraged when you
enter into a season of hardship, a season of pain or a season full of uncertainties
for God is with you right now and will be with you throughout the season. He
never changes. Put your trust and hope in God and He will carry you through.
The changes we dread most may
contain our salvation. – Barbara Kingsolver.
